Accommodations

Several accommodation options are available at Earthaven Ecovillage and in the surrounding area. Options may include camping, campground cabin, private and shared indoor accommodations on-campus, or a variety of off-site options.

Please see each specific program page for available on-site options and pricing.

Please note: At Earthaven we live close to nature and with the elements. Living “close to nature” and “with the elements” not only means hearing bird song out the window or a creek in the distance, it can also include more insects, spiders, dust, and must inside than most town-living homes. Most accommodations at Earthaven are also not climate controlled, so the air temperature and moisture level generally track with the outside environment.

Camping

Always a popular option, participants can camp in the forested Earthaven campground. Most campground sites are designed for two-person tents; some can accommodate larger tents. A couple camper van/RV spots (no hookups) are also available (max. length 28ft).

The campground offers drinking water, a tarp-covered kitchen with propane burners for cooking and heating water, and dining tables. There is an outdoor shower, outhouse with a composting toilet, and hand washing station. No refrigeration is available; purchase of ice for your personal cooler is available in Old Fort, about 10 miles away.

The campground does not have electricity, but is near the Council Hall for emergency phone calls and small electrical needs like charging a phone or computer.

Campground Cabin

A NEW popular option! The campground hosts a rustic screened cabin for shared lodging with mixed genders and ages. Located under forest trees with screened windows and large overhangs, the cabin has proven to be comfortable and dry in the summer rain and heat.

The cabin has two rooms, each with two wooden bunk beds, for a total of four beds in each room. Each bed is equipped with a comfortable waterproof camp cabin mattress. Cabin campers need to bring their own sleeping gear, such as sleeping bag and pillow. School of Integrated Living program participants may rent sleeping bags with their program registration.

Storage space within the cabin is limited; each camper has a shelf, clothing hooks, and shared space under the bottom bunk to store their belongings. The cabin does not have electricity, lights, water, or refrigeration.

Cabin campers use the campground facilities, including the outhouse, shower, kitchen, and hand washing station.

This is an excellent option if you want to camp but not deal with a tent.

Indoor Lodging

Provided by Earthaven community members, options range from solitary huts and cabins to dorm rooms to private rooms in a community member’s home. Although the spaces may differ, all are simple, hand-built ecospaces that will have at least a bed and a composting toilet nearby.

Some spaces will be centrally located, while some will be within a 5–15 minute walk of the village center. An outdoor shower in the campground will be available if your accommodations do not have their own shower. Both Private and Shared are usually available.
