Over a two-year period, from 2016 to 2018, we had five deaths in our ecovillage. All five folks received home funerals and home burials and several of them were cared for and died at home. The journey for us was profound on so many levels. This workshop emerged through our own experience, help from our mentors, wisdom from the dying, and a synthesis of the celebrations and challenges. We offer our integrated village experience as a guide for folks to replicate a similarly conscious and positive end-of-life process.

Join us for this sacred journey to contemplate end-of-life intentions and prepare the appropriate documents. Whether for yourself or for a loved one, intentionally preparing for death honors life and greatly increases the likelihood of having a good death.

Creating clear end-of-life paperwork is appropriate for all stages of life and health. Written documents help loved ones know what to expect, guide our own inner and outer processes, and when the time comes, allow us to turn our attention to the mystery and magic inherent in the dying process. During our five weeks together, you will receive an overview of the entire spectrum of end-of-life paperwork, focus extensively on end-of-life directives, dive deeply into after-death options, and come away with a profoundly expanded understanding of end-of-life options. Specifically you will have the opportunity to complete the The Five Wishes document, which is an internationally renowned and recognized advanced care directive often described as a “living will with a heart and soul,” the Dementia Directive, the Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment (MOST) and Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) forms, after-death forms of various kinds, and a checklist for further actions.

Expect expert information, real-life examples, one-on-one and group discussions, opportunities for contemplation, resources galore, easy discussions, as well as active encouragement for next steps.
