Dr. Monique Mazza, ND
Faculty
Monique (she/her) is a Naturopathic Physician, regenerative biodynamic gardener, homesteader, mother, and dedicated community member who lives at Earthaven Ecovillage since 2016. Her Caribbean ancestry introduced her to the healing power of plants and reverence for nature at an early age. Over the past two decades, she has empowered thousands of people with the knowledge of how to heal their body, mind, and spirit by applying basic tenets of health, including nature and community connection. Serving as the village doctor, she combines her knowledge of cutting-edge science with the wisdom of time-honored healing traditions when crafting customized wellness recommendations for patients.
Monique is dedicated to a life of service. Outside of her clinic, she can be found deep in her garden or kitchen, creating beauty around the community, homeschooling and playing with her daughter, or at her desk serving on the legislative committee for the North Carolina Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Her passion for food as medicine fuels her efforts to sustainably grow and raise much of her family’s food, including a diversity of vegetables, fruits, berries, laying hens, broiler chickens, turkeys, and even rainbow trout! Another passion is learning, which currently has her focused on studying the evolving science around the human microbiome and its relationship to soil. She is especially eager about offering experiential classes in her 5,000 square-foot organic garden, where participants can simultaneously learn and heal while connecting to nature and one another.
