Earthaven Ecovillage
Near Asheville, NC

This Permaculture Design Certification Course is a collaboration of Wild Abundance, Earthaven Ecovillage, School of Integrated Living, and Cooperate WNC. This page is where registered PDC participants will purchase their meal plan and have the option to book indoor lodging.

If you have not yet registered for the PDC, register on the Wild Abundance website before purchasing a meal plan or accommodations.

This course is grounded at Earthaven Ecovillage, a 29 year old permaculture-based intentional community with 100+ permanent residents. As a PDC village, students and instructors will partake in all its meals together, which is often a time to deepen in relationships and learning outside of “class time.”

What to Expect at Earthaven

Course registration is not confirmed until student has paid:

  1. Wild Abundance for PDC Tuition, AND
  2. School of Integrated Living for meal plan.

Although lodging at Earthaven is optional, we refer to this PDC as a residential course because students who stay in the ecovillage have consistently experienced more ease, depth of connection, and profound learning than those who choose to commute. While it’s possible for commuters to still experience a rich experience in the course, the additional travel time makes for longer days and less time with fellow students and/or time on the land and enjoying the natural world that the course is grounded in.

Several accommodation options are available at Earthaven Ecovillage.

  • Camping is included in the PDC tuition.
  • Private and shared indoor accommodations on-campus are sold out. Please contact us if you would like to be on the waiting list.

Meal Plan (Required)

Cost: $620

As a PDC village, students and instructors will partake in all meals together. These shared meals are often a time to deepen in relationships and learning outside of “class time.”

Delicious, omnivorous meals are prepared by talented culinary artists from the Earthaven community. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. Snacks and beverages (tea, coffee) are provided.

As much food as possible is sourced from Earthaven and its surrounding farms and gardens, with some ingredients sourced from local grocery stores. Our meals are created with seasonal, local, fresh, wildcrafted, humanely-raised, and organic ingredients.

***If you have dietary needs beyond the ones listed here, please be prepared to bring supplemental food to support your nourishment and well-being. Our kitchen cannot accommodate all diets.

*** Although we would like to know if you have any allergies, we cannot provide an anaphylactic safe meal. There is always the chance of cross contamination.

The meal plan includes three meals each day for the full program, with dinner only on the first day and breakfast and lunch on the final day.

Transportation Assistance

Care for the earth is a central ethic at Wild Abundance and Earthaven Ecovillage. The course welcome letter includes a spreadsheet to find your classmates’ contact information, including the city and state where they live. If it’s possible for you to carpool to class, we ask that you consider it. These efforts can greatly reduce the carbon footprint of this class.

If necessary, we can arrange transportation to and from Asheville or the Asheville airport for $90 each way.
