near Asheville, North Carolina
This immersive exploration of nonviolent communication (NVC) is meant to foster community among the growing number of people in Western North Carolina who are passionate about living and promoting compassionate consciousness. Compassion Camp is a program of 10,000 Love Letters, co-hosted by School of Integrated Living.
Deepen Your Communications Skills at Earthaven Ecovillage
Compassion Camp is inspired by the life and work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the creator of Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Intended to be an annual event, Compassion Camp seeks to concentrate the creativity and inspiration of participants into an ongoing, life-serving energy for the community.
Through both preplanned presentations and Open Space sessions, the event aims to build community among Western North Carolina's NVC practitioners, create networks among affinity groups such as educators and social activists, and deepen its participants' understanding of how NVC can be applied in daily life. Compassion Camp also features relational activities centered around singing, dancing, storytelling, and silence, which cultural anthropologist Angeles Arrien has identified as the four most common ways that humans create wellness, community, and connection.
Activities, Open Space offerings, meals, and rituals combine to create a container for the deepening of NVC.
